Hypnosis Proven to Work!

705_3504886Hypnosis of varying forms is a part of history as it has been a part of many cultures in the quest to understand the magnitude of power of the mind. Science is now devoting more research into proving the effects of hypnosis. Listed are a few studies showing the positive effects of hypnosis:

  • Hypnosis is over 30 times as effective for weight loss where an average of 17 pounds were lost in the hypnosis group versus an average of 0.5 pounds lost by the control group.  Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1986; 54, 489-492. 
  • Hypnosis subjects lost more weight than 90% of other groups and KEPT IT OFF!; Journal Consult Clinical Psychology 1996; 64(3) 
  • Hypnotherapy group with STRESS reduction achieved significantly more weight loss; J Stradling, D Roberts, A Wilson and F Lovelock, Chest Unit, Churchill Hospital, Oxford 
  • 90.6% success rate using hypnosis; Int J Clin Exp Hypn. 2001 Jul;49(3):257-66
  • Texas A&M University study showed that 81% of patients that used hypnosis stopped smoking and 48% reported abstinence after 12 months; Texas A&M University, System Health Science Center, College of Medicine, College Station, TX USA.   • University of Iowa study showed that hypnosis was the most effective way of stopping smoking. It was over 3 times as effective as nicotine replacement and 15 times as effective as using will power alone! New Scientist vol 136 issue 1845 – 31 October 92, page 6
